Labourer Electrocuted To Death

NAGAON, May 26: One Dadul Deka Doloi, a part time labourer working under a registered electrical contractor was electrocuted to death on Wednesday while shifting a roadside electric post of an ongoing construction of approach PWD road towards Mahamrityunjaya Mandir at Barhampur Bherbheri areas, sources said.

Sources claimed that the electrical contractor engaged the victim without prior power cut and took no work order for shifting the electrical post – as a result of which the victim unfortunately came in contact with an eleven KB power line and died on spot.

Significantly, the concerned electrical contractor, instead of informing the local police as well as the department concerned, immediately shifted the body of the deceased to his native village Baropujia in Morigaon district. Besides, the contractor also persuaded the villagers to dispose of his earthly remains as per religious beliefs without conducting a postmortem of the body, sources said.

Meanwhile, when the authority concerned of district APDCL came to know about the incident, the official immediately informed the police in black and white and urged them to take necessary action accordingly, sources claimed further.
