18 new 33kv power sub-stations approved to APDCL; Nagaon circle to supply quality power in Nagaon & Hojai district

NAGAON, Oct 8: In context to the ongoing frequent load shedding, shortage of power supply, voltage problem across Nagaon as well as Hojai district, APDCL, Nagaon circle initiated a slew of measures to develop the sustainable voltage and lessen the hardship of frequent loadshedding in those two middle Assam districts.
Sources from the company concerned said that the APDCL, Nagaon circle got approval of 18 new 33kv power sub-stations in those two districts under AIIB scheme and also initiated two new 33kv power lines to connect with the current existing power station in Nagaon power house.
The proposed new 33kv power lines will be erected from Deodhar to Nagaon power house as there is an old power line connecting Khaloigaon substation to Deodhar Sub-station, sources said, adding that the company would renovate the existing old power lines from Khaloigaon towards Deodhar SS too. Similarly, the company concerned will also renovate the old existing power lines between Khaloigaon substation and Dhing load-centre and another fresh 33kv power lines would be erected from Dhing load-centre towards Bebejia Demou so that the electric power could be supplied to existing Nagaon power house.
The work of erection of the proposed new power lines will be started soon and the company will complete it within a couple of months, sources said adding further that all problems related to power supply or voltage problem across Nagaon town and its surroundings would be mitigated soon.
Talking to this correspondent, Bijoy Sankar Boruah, chief executive officer, APDCL, Nagaon circle said, “The power supply or other power related problems in Nagaon and Hojai district would be solved within a couple of years as the APDCL, Nagaon circle, have received an approval of 18 new 33kv power sub-stations in those two districts. Besides, two new proposed power lines connecting Khaloigaon substation to the old existing Nagaon power house via Deodhar to Nagaon and Dhing via Bebejia Demou to Nagaon power house will boost the quality power in the entire Nagaon town and its surroundings.”
He said that the power is currently being supplied to the station only from 132 kb power line 1 and 132 kv power line 2 from Samaguri GSS- and hence any inconveniences occurred in those two power lines, the town as well as the entire Nagaon district has compelled to face heavy power shortage. But the two new proposed power lines will help the company to supply sufficient power to its consumers even during the emergency period, he accorded.
Referring to the new development in connection with the approval of 18 new 33kv power substations under the circle, CEO Boruah said that the local MLA Rupak Sarma had already extended his helping hands to set up a new sub-station near at Nagaon Khagarijan College while another at Nagaon Laogaon under AIIB scheme. Local MLA Rupak Sarma has already verbally consented to offer sufficient land for the new power sub-station near Nagaon Khagarijan College, he added.
If the company will get the proposed land ultimately in time, the work of installation of the new power sub-station will be completed within 1.5 years and the scarcity of power supply across the town and its surroundings will be boosted, CEO Boruah said.
