MARGHERITA, May 24: Ledo Central Namghar, one of the oldest Namghars located at 83 number Margherita constituency of Tinsukia district, celebrated its 57th anniversary with a grand program from Thursday to Friday.
Diha Samrat Kamla Gogoi was invited as the chief guest to recite Bhagawat paath.
Ranajyoti Neog, general secretary of Ledo Central Namghar Managing Committee, stated that on Thursday, the program commenced with the hoisting of the religious flag, which was unfurled by Tarun Gogoi, president of Ledo Central Namghar. This was followed by the illumination of earthen lamps by Damrudhar Neog and Loknath Konwar.
Following this, a procession carrying the holy Bhagawat Gita was taken from Ledo Central Namghar to Ledo town.
Rana Jyoti Neog mentioned that on Friday, an open session was held on the topic – Srimanta Sankardev’s democratic thinking towards Assam and our society.
In the evening, 57 earthen lamps were illuminated at Ledo Central Namghar, where Diha Samrat Kamla Gogoi and his team performed Diha Naam.
