Leopard creates panic at Amulapatty

NAGAON, Jan 1: A leopard was found sleeping at a toilet of a under construction building near the residence of a local MLA in Nagaon town here on a Wednesday afternoon.

The sudden presence of the leopard has created widespread panic among the residents of Nagaon Amulapatty.

It is reported that the leopard was first noticed by a mason, working in the construction work of the building on the first floor, owned by Baby Baruah when he went to the toilet.

On seeing the leopard at toilet, the mason clicked a photograph of the leopard and informed the owner.

When the news went viral, one of news photographer of a satellite news channel rushed to the spot just ahead of arrival of local forest personnel and tried to take video of the leopard, however, the leopard was awakened by the flashlight and escaped the scene.

In the meantime, the local forest officials as well as other forest personnel rushed to the spot and tried to trace the leopard so that the big cat could be tranquilized as early as possible.

The forest officials are yet to trace the leopard in the area till the time of filing this report, sources said, adding that the local administration restricted the entry of people in the area and also urged the local residents not to come out unless necessary.
