Guwahati, April 17: The vigorous campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Assam, scheduled for April 19, concluded on Wednesday. This crucial phase will determine the fate of 35 candidates, including two Rajya Sabha MPs, three Lok Sabha MPs, and an MLA.
The constituencies in focus are Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Sonitpur, and Lakhimpur. Kaziranga stands out as the largest Lok Sabha constituency in the first phase in terms of voters.
The Phase-I electorate and polling station details for the parliamentary constituencies are as follows: Kaziranga has 10 assembly constituencies, 2357 polling stations, and a total of 2053805 electors.
Sonitpur has 11 assembly constituencies, 1878 polling stations, and a total of 1638992 electors. Lakhimpur has 12 assembly constituencies, 1775 polling stations, and a total of 1580500 electors. Dibrugarh has 13 assembly constituencies, 1923 polling stations, and a total of 1661998 electors.
Jorhat has 14 assembly constituencies, 2068 polling stations, and a total of 1732944 electors. In total, there are 48 assembly constituencies, 10001 polling stations, and a total of 8668239 electors.
