BOKO, March 19: “If the government conducted third and fourth grade jobs examinations properly, then why did they fail to conduct such important exams,” Arjun Chetry, Kamrup district president of Assam Gorkha Sanmilani reacted to SEBA question paper leak case.
The Kamrup district Gorkha Kalyan Sammittee observed its 30th annual conference with a day-long programme at Sundarpur village under Lumpi area along the Assam- Meghalaya border on Saturday.
In the conference, fifteen regional committee members along with the local public took part. Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council’s executive members Sumit Rabha, Sonaram Rabha, Aditya Rabha, Nagarmal Swargiyary and many other rabha and gorkha leaders took part in the conference.
During the open session of the conference, Arjun Chetry asked the state government as well as the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma why they failed to conduct the very important exam properly.
“Due to these obstacles in the exam, students of the area are suffering from mental pressures. This is a very unfortunate incident and from this the students of the Lumpi area are suffering much than other places”, alleged Chetry.
“Due to lack of internet connection and electricity, they didn’t get the news of exam cancellation, so next day they reached the examination hall after travelling around 40 kilometers and then got the news about question paper leak and exam cancellation. So, they broke down mentally at that time, hence the government should understand the situation,” Added Arjun Chetry.
“Only those with whom it happens know how painful it is, the government should give their importance to this matter, it is not good as some people played with the students’ lives and future”, added Chetry.
The conference was presided over by the Kamrup district Gorkha Kalyan Parisad’s president Dulal Rana and the secretary Kailash Sharma.
Arjun Chetry also said that when government job examinations were held, strict measures were taken by the state government, but there is no importance to the SEBA HSLC examination.
“The state government or the chief minister takes responsibility when they do good things, but when any untoward incidents happen, they push it to the employees. The government should take responsibility for the bad things too and conduct the examinations smoothly and safely”, Arjun Chetry requested the state government and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Meanwhile, Nagarmal Swargiary, executive member of RHAC said in his speech in the open session that Lumpi area is a very remote and underdeveloped area which falls under Kamrup district. And also a naturally beautiful and a border disputed area, where Assam CM sometimes comes when some problems occur due to the border dispute.
“So I request to the chief minister of Assam to visit Lumpi not only when untoward incidents occur, do visit the Lumpi area with some development schemes”, added Swargiary in his speech.
