Man lynched in Diphu

DIPHU: A man was beaten to death by several persons in Diphu on Tuesday night. A villager of Inghe Village, Diphu, first noticed a man, identified as Chatra Bey, being beaten by at least three persons around 11 pm in the playground of Ha-i-mu School. The villager identified one of the culprits as Chesong Rongpi of Taralangso.

Chesong Rongpi reportedly said, “I will take the risk whether the man is dead or alive.”

The villagers asked Rongpi to leave the area as they did not want anyone killed.

Several have been detained in the incident but there is no clear information.

Chatra Bey was a resident of Linchika in West Karbi Anglong and was an employee of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
