Segunbari Tea Factory in Margherita is owned by Gautam Beria of Dibrugarh, where for many years, the factory has not paid property tax amounting to Rs 5 lakhs to the Margherita Municipal Board.

Despite several notices issued by the Margherita Municipal Board, a final ten-day notice of negligence was served to Segunbari Tea Factory in Margherita. However, even after the expiration of the stipulated time, the garden authorities did not heed the notice from the Margherita Municipal Board. Consequently, on Monday, the Margherita Municipal Board executive officer cum Magistrate, Pratim Gogoi, Margherita Municipal Board chairman Anand Kumar Sharma, vice chairperson Raj Lakhi Gogoi, ward commissioner Bhim Karmakar, and other staff arrived at Segunbari Tea Factory and sealed the factory until further notice.

It is worth mentioning that due to the negligence of Tinsukia district assistant labour commissioner and other Labour Department officials, Segunbari Tea Factory has violated factory rules and regulations for many years.
