Meeting Held To Evaluate Damages Caused By Hailstorm In Chirang

KOKRAJHAR, April 19: A meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority was held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office under the chairmanship of Narendra Kumar Shah, deputy commissioner, Chirang on Monday.

The meeting held with the heads of various departments of the district assessed the damages of agricultural land, houses, school buildings, power supply, anganwadi centres, livestock, etc., due to hailstorm and gusty wind on April 14, 15 and 16 last.

Deputy commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah directed the concerned departments to submit proper reports to the district authorities at the earliest to provide relief to the affected people in the district.

He also urged all heads of the departments to be alert to deal with any situation arising out of the upcoming floods and directed the revenue circle officials of the district to form Whatsapp groups including Lot mandals and villagers so as to warn the villagers of the district about various calamities and safety measures.

The meeting was attended by Bijni civil sub-divisional officer Rahul Gupta, additional deputy commissioner Ajit Kumar Sarmah, circle officers of Sidli and Bangtal revenue circles Amit Ranjan Barman and Pranjal Baruah, assistant commissioner Rakhishree Lekharu and heads of various departments of the district.
