Militant from UTLA apprehended in joint operation

GUWAHATI, Nov 26: In a joint operation conducted by Assam Rifles and
Jirighat Police in Cachar district, a cadre of the Manipur-based militant group
United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) – S.K Thadou faction was apprehended.
The arrested individual, identified as Henlenmang Lhouvum, hails from Senapati
district in Manipur.
The operation took place near Jirighat at Lakhicherra Khasia Punjee. During the
search, officials recovered a 0.32 mm pistol loaded with five live rounds of
ammunition from Lhouvum. The arrest was made based on specific intelligence
indicating Lhouvum’s presence in the area for finalizing an arms transaction with
unknown individuals.
A thorough investigation is currently underway to identify Lhouvum’s associates
and trace the source of the ammunition. Officials are examining all possible
aspects related to the case to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the
situation.
