GUWAHATI, July 5: Power sector ‘Maharatna’ REC Limited has pledged its support to improve conditions for frontline forest staff in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Saturday.
It will provide assistance in upgrading solar power and drinking water facilities in over 120 anti-poaching camps.
“@RECLindia , a Maharatna PSU, has pledged Rs 5.3 crore under its CSR initiative to support Kaziranga,” the CMO said in a post on X.
“The assistance will help upgrade solar power and drinking water facilities in over 120 anti-poaching camps, significantly improving conditions for frontline forest staff,” it said.
The CMO added that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his gratitude for the valuable contribution towards conservation of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
A ‘Maharatna’ PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, REC plays a key strategic role in the flagship schemes of the government for the power sector. (PTI)
