SIVASAGAR, Sept 16: To pay homage to the departed public
leader and prominent Assamese leader Pranabjit Chaliha aka
‘Romuda’, agriculture minister Atul Bora and APCC executive
president Rana Goswami on Saturday visited Chaliha’s Phukan
Nagar residence and conveyed their condolence to the
bereaved family members.
Atul Bora recalled his association with Romuda and said that he
was an outstanding personality in public life and also in the
playing arena. His smashing in volleyball court was hard to
resist and so were his dialogues in support of Assamese
nationalism. Rana Goswami also met Romuda’s wife Raka
Chaliha and son Sringkhal and conveyed his feelings.
C-in C of banned ULFA, through a release to the media
yesterday, condoled the death of the prominent social leader
Pranabjit Chaliha and said his contribution to Assamese society
is immeasurable.
Bhojpuri Samaj Sivasagar, Rangpur Sahitya Sabha, Brihattar
Sivasagr Press Club, also condoled the death of Romuda like a
host of other organisations here.
