MAIBANG, Aug 11: Nandita Gorlosa, Assam minister for Power, Co-operation, etc., inaugurated the new building of Fire and Emergency Services at Maibang on Thursday.
The new building constructed at the cost of Rs 2.5 crore has been successfully completed at the span of three years as informed by the special DGP-cum-director, Fire and Emergency Services Mukesh Aggarwal, IPS.
Minister Nandita Gorlosa, attended the programme as chief guest. She was accompanied by Nazreen Ahmed, ACS Dima Hasao deputy commissioner; Mukesh Aggarwal, IPS special DGP & director of Fire and Emergency Services on stage. Along with them, executive members of Council Nipolal Hojai and Bijit Langthasa were also present as special guests at the inauguration programme.
Minister Gorlosa while addressing the public during the meeting said that this fire station will attend to all calls during fire emergency situations in Maibang and its neighbouring areas. Stressing on the importance of the local people especially the youth about job prospects too, she said more educated people especially the youth should train and make themselves acquainted about job opportunities also. She informed that the strength of the fire station is currently 11 out of 15 and the remaining vacancy is expected to be filled up soon. Lauding the efficiency and dedication of the people in this service, the minister spoke about the achievement of the department.
Speaking on the occasion EM Bijit Langthasa expressed his happiness on inauguration of the new building. He urged the authorities to also modernise and strengthen the service station prior to shifting to this new building. EM Nipolal Hojai stressing on the need for adopting safety measures, he appealed to the people to co-operate and be aware of the services so that fire brigade personnel can render timely action to minimise the loss of properties.
Special DGP & director Mukesh Aggarwal said that during their recent calamity in various parts of the state their department personnel have successfully rescued more than 19 thousand human lives & around 500 live-stocks.
Offering his gratitude to Parimal Langthasa, the kind donor of land, a huge round of applause was offered to him by all the people present during the programme. Informing that the department is in process of setting up 2 more new fire stations in Dima Hasao at Mahur Town and Harangajao, he said that currently there are three existing fire stations in the district one each at Haflong, Umrangso and Maibang.
Deputy commissioner, Nazreen Ahmed stated about the diversified activity of the Fire & Emergency Services these days especially during the disaster. Offering her salute to the team for all their contribution especially during the disaster that occurred in Dima Hasao in May and later again in June she spoke about the government’s initiatives to modernise and strengthen the services of the department.
The programme began with the welcome speech by the Fire & Emergency Services SP Siddique Ahmed Ali, APS and concluded with the vote of thanks by the project engineer Bhupen Talukdar.
Dima Hasao, SP Mayank Kumar, Civil SDO Pallab Majumdar, SDPO, DIPRO & other officials also attended the programme.
