HOJAI, Nov 19: Nandita Gorlosa, cabinet minister of Assam for Power, Sports & Youth Welfare, Cooperation, Indigenous and Tribal Faith, and Cultural Department, graced Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai, on Monday. She held an engaging interactive session with the students and faculty.
The meeting was chaired by the vice-chancellor of RTU, Prof Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, with Tilak Ch Kalita, the registrar (in-charge), serving as the convenor. The session commenced with the recital of the University anthem. The welcome speech was delivered by Prof Rezina Ahmed of the department of Zoology.
Addressing the audience, Gorlosa inspired the students by highlighting various pathways for personal and professional growth. She emphasised the expanding opportunities in diverse fields and urged students to explore these promising avenues.
Accompanying her were three officials, namely, Bishwajit Chakraborty, jt. registrar, Cooperative Department; Antara Gogoi, jt. director, Sports & Youth Welfare; and Rumi Sarma, research assistant, Directorate of Archaeology. The officials addressed the audience, sharing insights about their respective departments and discussing potential opportunities for job creation and higher education.
During the event, Smt. Gorlosa also inaugurated the book ‘Uttar Purbanchalor Oitihahik Porjyoton’, authored by Gautam Sharma, guest lecturer, department of History. The event included an address by the vice-chancellor, who articulated the university’s vision and its dedication to fostering a brighter future.
The session concluded with vibrant cultural performances by the students, showcasing the rich heritage and diversity of the various tribes and communities of Assam. Dr Gargi Sarma, assistant professor, department of Commerce, anchored the event, and the vote of thanks was offered by Dr Barnali Hazarika, assistant professor in the department of Economics.
