Minister Parimal Suklabaidya Hoists Tricolour In Silchar

SILCHAR, Aug 16: In sync with rest of the country, the 76th Independence Day of the country has been celebrated in Cachar district on Monday.

On this occasion, the national flag was officially hoisted at the police parade ground of Silchar.

Minister of Transport, Excise & Fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya hoisted the national flag at police parade ground at the central function of Cachar district on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day. Before hoisting the flag, the minister was greeted by the ceremonial performance of Assam Police, CRPF, NCC Scouts and Guides and other security agencies.

“May this spirit of freedom, lead us all to success, glory & prosperity in everyone’s life. As we celebrate, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, I feel honoured to be present amongst the loving citizens and address the key developmental initiatives of Union and Assam Government,” said the minister in his Independence Day address.

Highlighting the achievements of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led State Government, Parimal Suklabaidya said, “Due to the constant visits of the chief minister and other ministers in various districts of Assam, there has established a direct relationship between the people and the Government which has in turn helped in confidence building. During the recent flood, the chief minister visited Silchar thrice and tried to alienate the sufferings of the people. Due to his intervention, the flood victims have got sufficient ration.”

As regard to the devastating recent flood in Cachar, minister Parimal Suklabaidya said, “A total of 26,422 pucca houses and 54,374 kuchha houses were partially damaged. These flood victims will soon get compensation from the Government. The major dykes have been temporarily repaired as of now to prevent the occurrence of any major flood again.”

The minister also thanked all individuals, NGO’s who came forward to help the people during the flood. He also thanked the Government officials who discharged their duties for the service of the people during the flood.”

Earlier, minister Parimal Shuklabaidya visited Ghandibagh along with DC Cachar Rohan Kumar Jha and SP Cachar Ramandeep Kaur and paid floral tribute to the martyrs.

Later on the day the minister also visited Red Cross hospital and Central jail Silchar where he greeted the inmates and distributed fruits and sweets to them in the presence of DC, SP, jail superintendent and other officials.
