NAGAON, Aug 16: On occasion of country’s 76th Independence Day, the State Water Resource and Public Relations minister Pijush Hazarika unfurled the tricolour at Nagaon Nurul Amin stadium here on Monday last and also inspected the guard of honour presented by district police personnel, para military forces, NCC cadets as well as students of various local educational institutions of the town.
While addressing the occasion, the minister highlighted various developmental Government schemes being sponsored by Union Government as well as the State Government for public welfare and development of all sections of people across the State. The minister also felicitated the kins and other family members as well as relatives of the freedom fighters of the district during the celebration of the 76th country’s Independence Day.
Local MLA Rupak Sarma, Barhampur MLA Jitu Goswami, Raha MLA Sashi Kanta Das, deputy commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah, SP Leena Doley and other senior officials of district as well as police administration were present in the programme. Besides, the minister also distributed the prizes among the winning participants in the march past ceremony. Nagaon Lions Club also unfurled the tricolour at its office campus on occasion of the independence day on Monday last and in the afternoon, the club members led by its newly appointed president M C Agarwal distributed food packets among the inmates of Srimanta Shankar Mission at Nagaon Panigaon Chariali and ‘Swadhar Greh’ at Chokitoop in the town.
Similarly, the administration of Kaliabor Subdivision (Civil) also celebrated the 76th country’s Independence Day at Kuwaritol Gandhi Pothar parades ground. The sub-divisional officer Pabitra Kumar Das unfurled the tricolour and took the guard of honour presented in the march past ceremony by police personnel, 2nd Assam Forest Protection Force, NCC cadets, scouts and guides and other students of educational institutions of the subdivision.
