NAGAON, Dec 19: As part of a national-level disaster management exercise, a mock drill on flood management was conducted on Thursday in Nagaon, an official statement said.
The drill aimed to assess the preparedness of various stakeholders in responding to floods.
“The exercise was conducted at multiple locations, including the office of the Nagaon district commissioner which was designated as the emergency control room. Other locations included a community hall, a health center, and a relief camp,” the statement added.
It further said that the mock drill was observed by two experts from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). The observers monitored various aspects of the drill, including search and rescue operations, provision of medical aid, and distribution of relief materials, etc.
The successful conduct of the mock drill demonstrated the preparedness of the district administration and other stakeholders in responding to flood-like situations.
Officials as well as other employees from over 16 departments including district administration, police administration and health department participated in the mock drill programme.
Bijayanta Goswami, district programme officer, DDMA, Nagaon and Philips VLH, Hrangchal, CEO, DDMA, Nagaon made all arrangements to make the drill a successful one, an official press note added here.
