NAGAON, Sept 11: The Ministry of Women and Child Development has commenced the month-long celebration of the 6th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month) across India in September 2023. In Nagaon district, the inaugural program was held at the Kamala Devi Todi Smriti Bhawan, where district commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah formally launched the program.

Addressing the occasion, district commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah urged Anganwadi workers to work in mission mode to achieve the goals of Poshan Maah and make it a success. He highlighted the significant role of Anganwadi workers and the Women and Child Development Department in nurturing healthy children who, in turn, contribute to building a stronger nation. The DC also participated in a cake-cutting ceremony featuring a cake made from millets, prepared by Anganwadi workers.

The focal point of Poshan Maah 2023 is to raise widespread awareness about critical stages in human life, including pregnancy, infancy, childhood, and adolescence. The objective is to promote nutritional knowledge throughout India under the theme “Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat” (Nutrition-rich India, Educated India, Empowered India).

During the event, various activities were conducted, including ‘Diha Naam’ performances by Anganwadi workers of the Khagorijan Project under Borbheti Gaon Panchayat, a dance performance by children from the Shivhashatn Anganwadi Kendra, Urban Project, and a storytelling program by children and Anganwadi workers of the Khagorijan Project, Senchowa Gaon Panchayat. Additionally, the District Commissioner inaugurated a demonstration stall showcasing millet-based recipes and food items.
