Mother’s Day Celebrated Across Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, May 8: Mother’s Day was celebrated in Karbi Anglong on Sunday. In the morning, children and husbands were seen wishing their mothers and wives a happy Mother’s Day by presenting flowers and gifts. Some families were even seen organising cake cutting ceremonies and praying for the good health of their mothers.

During the worship service at Rongchingdon Baptist Church, here, special programmes to felicitate and honour mothers were also organised.

During the worship service, special prayer for all the mothers was held. Gifts were presented to the women’s department on behalf of all the mothers. Simlirbon Beypi, one of the youth members of the church, whose mother passed away last year, presented gifts to all mothers present along with a cake. The cake was cut by president of the Women Department, Lily Hansepi.

The appointed speaker, Nobin Killing in his speech mentioned the difficulties and hardship that mothers have to endure in bringing up the children and maintaining the family. Mothers are role models to the family and society as they are devoted and have patience. He asked children to love and honour their mothers for the care and affection they receive.

Special songs honouring mothers were presented by Sunday School students and individuals. After the worship service, tea and snacks were served.

Likewise, at Langvoku Baptist Fellowship and Longhup Baptist Fellowship, Mission Centre, Ram Terang, Rongplimplam celebrated Mother’s Day by organising special programmes.

At Rongkimi Presbyterian Church here the Mother’s Day celebration was held by arranging programmes. Gifts were also given to mothers present during the worship service. Hilary Bey was the appointed speaker for the day. Mother’s Day was celebrated in all Presbyterian Churches under Karbi Anglong Presbyterian Church Synod.
