DIPHU, May 14: With the rest of the world, Mother’s Day was celebrated by organising a special worship service dedicated to mothers here on Sunday.

Every year, the second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day across the globe to pay respect and honour to mothers who are present and who are no more and to express love, appreciation, and gratitude for their unconditional love, support, and sacrifice.

The idea of celebrating Mother’s Day was first formulated by Anna Jarvis in America. She has organised a memorial for her mother, Anna Jarvis, a peace activist who used to care for the wounded soldiers of the American Civil War. The first Mother’s Day was celebrated in 1908, and it slowly spread to other states and countries.
