He also reviewed progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in both rural and urban areas and asked officials to stick to timelines so that all eligible beneficiaries receive their allotted housing assistance without delay.

Addressing the issue of infrastructure damage due to overlapping projects, Suklabaidya directed the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to immediately repair roads impacted by AMRUT pipeline work, Jal Jeevan Mission activities, and PWD operations, stating that prompt action was crucial for restoring connectivity and effective service delivery.

In his remarks, Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha appreciated the district’s developmental pace and called for stronger emphasis on the education sector—from Anganwadi centres to higher education institutions—and on welfare schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Nijut Moina.

He called for transparency and greater awareness generation so that beneficiaries clearly understand and access available schemes.

Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty echoed these sentiments and praised the administration’s proactive approach.

He called for reduced procedural delays, balanced attention to both urban and rural areas, and improved civic amenities in municipal wards.

He urged PRI and MC members to play an active role in monitoring and implementation.

Earlier in the meeting, a detailed PowerPoint presentation showcased the district’s progress under flagship schemes such as MGNREGA, PMGSY, Amrit Sarovar, MPLADS, Ayushman Bharat, Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, and others.

Developments in rural electrification, installation of smart meters, and road projects in Udharbond, Sonai, Lakhipur, and Katigorah were also reviewed.

The meeting also examined departmental performances across sectors including Food and Civil Supplies, Forest, Health, Education, Social Welfare, Public Health Engineering, Agriculture, Sports, Irrigation, and Labour.

Departmental officials and field staff provided updates and responded to queries raised by the MPs and MLAs.

In his concluding remarks, Suklabaidya lauded the district administration’s dedication but reminded all present of their duty to the public.

“Government schemes are meant to serve the people. Every rupee spent must translate into real benefits,” he said. “Officials must utilise resources optimally, monitor progress regularly, and ensure that no deserving citizen is left behind.”
