SIVASAGAR, July 28: NABARD, Sivasagar, organised a meeting as part of its Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme with the theme ‘Achievements @ 75: Transforming Lives and NABARD’s Contribution in Assam’. The event took place at Julagaon Community Hall on July 25 and was attended by around 63 participants from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs).
During the programme, the participants were guided by Kishore Rava, DDM NABARD, Bhuban Hazarika, secretary of Associated Gramya Unnayan Society (AGUS), Sivasagar, and Pranjal Puzari, reporter, NE News. DDM NABARD delivered a comprehensive presentation on the ‘Genesis, Vision, and Mission of NABARD’, shedding light on its various functions such as credit, financial, supervisory, and development roles. The presentation also highlighted NABARD’s successful implementation and monitoring of centrally sponsored schemes, including the formation and promotion of 10,000 SHGs, agriculture infrastructure fund, computerisation of PACS, largest grain storage project in the cooperative sector, statutory inspection of regional rural banks, and cooperative banks, among others.
Kishore Rava also discussed NABARD’s successful interventions across India, such as the preparation of potential linked credit plans (PLPs), SHG-Bank linkage programme (9SHG – BPL), E-shakti, watershed development programme, integrated tribal developments, policy formulation of Kisan Credit Cards, Model Millets Projects, support to Joint Liabilities Groups of small and tenant farmers, and various capacity-building training programs for rural youths and jail inmates. He further highlighted NABARD’s involvement in projects related to climate change, promotion of FPOs or OFPOs, support for the creation of rural infrastructure, financial literacy centers (CFLs), and exposure programs, among others.
Kishore Rava also shared information about the ongoing projects in Sivasagar district, which receive active support and cooperation from the district administration and all line departments. These projects include RIDF – projects, Bioflock fish farming, watershed, ITDF, MMPs, SDPs, LEDPs, MVs, FPOs, RHs, RMs, computerisation of PACS, establishment of centers for financial literacy, and exposure programs, among others.
