Nagaon Farmers Apprised Of Rice Doctor App

NAGAON, March 14: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon organised a training programme on rice doctor application under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) at its office premise here on Monday.

The programme was initiated with a welcome speech by Dr Niranjan Deka, principal scientist and the head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon. In his speech, Dr Deka explained about the importance of rice doctor application and the necessity of agricultural inputs and technologies more particularly on the use of machineries as well as eco friendly fertilizer while farming.

Additional deputy commissioner, Nagaon Bijita Deka attended the programme as the chief guest while Ranjan P Deka, district agriculture officer, Nagaon, Dr VK Yadav, resident coordinator to IRRI -APART, other scientists from APART were present during the inaugural session.

Over 35 female farmers from across the district participated in the training programme.

During the programme, the participants were made aware of the rice doctor application which apparently helps the farmers to visually diagnose the cause of the problem and also provides all sorts of actionable advices for prevention and management of the problem, an official release said, adding that the app can be easily used or handled with an android mobile.

While addressing the occasion, ADC Deka asserted that it’s just an initiative to put women at the forefront of technological development so that all male and female could work together for transformation of agri food system. A slew of games and sports were also organised among the female farmers during the programme, the release added further.
