GUWAHATI, July 27: In a contemplative initiative aimed at fostering emotional and spiritual awareness, New Art Players (NAP), a prominent socio-cultural organisation in Guwahati, organised a lecture on “The Art of Leaving” on Sunday evening at the NAP Auditorium.
The session began with a brief introductory note by NAP General Secretary Rathindra N Bhattacharya.
NAP President Ajoy Dutta extended a warm welcome and felicitated the guest speaker, Nirmalya Bhattacharyya, setting the tone for the reflective discussion that followed.
Bhattacharyya, a former NAP member and currently based in Kolkata, serves as Sah Sanchalak of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra, Paschim Banga Prant.
Drawing from spiritual philosophy, real-life experiences and psychological insights, he initiated the audience into the theme with the question: “We are all destined to leave this world one day. Are we prepared?”
Touching upon subjects often left unspoken in public discourse, the speaker elaborated on the signs of impending death, the soul’s journey beyond the physical realm, and the concept of reincarnation.
He also discussed near-death experiences and recounted cases where families were left emotionally and logistically unprepared, resulting in avoidable suffering.
Emphasising the importance of facing mortality with clarity, Bhattacharyya advocated for cultivating inner readiness, both for oneself and one’s loved ones.
The session concluded with a vibrant audience interaction, where several attendees shared their views and posed questions on the philosophical and practical aspects of the theme.
A formal vote of thanks was delivered by NAP Treasurer Kalyan Kumar Das, bringing the evening to a close.
The event was part of NAP’s continuing effort to engage the public in conversations that combine art, culture, and deeper human introspection.
