NCC unit launched at Khagarijan College

NAGAON, Aug 11: The NCC Unit of Khagarijan College under 8 Assam Battalion NCC was formally launched on the college campus here on Monday.

The event was attended by the Commanding Officer of 8 Assam Battalion NCC, Lieutenant Colonel Akshay Das, who was escorted by a guard of honour.

After the lighting of the lamp, the NCC flag was hoisted by college principal Dr Ramesh Nath, followed by the NCC song sung by students and cadets.

A felicitation ceremony was also held to honour the guest and NCC officials.

Lieutenant Colonel Das formally raised the NCC Unit by presenting the permission letter to the principal.

This was followed by the inauguration of the NCC Office and a formal session in the conference hall, where Dr Nath, Governing Body president Dr Dilip Sarma, and the Commanding Officer addressed cadets and students.

Dr Nath highlighted the college’s journey since its establishment in 1972 and thanked the Commanding Officer for granting the opportunity to raise the NCC Unit.

Dr Sarma termed it a significant milestone and spoke about the positive contributions NCC makes to an institution.

Delivering the keynote address, Lieutenant Colonel Das shared his 20-year experience in the Indian Army and his own history as an NCC cadet.

He outlined the opportunities and benefits NCC offers, encouraging students to utilise the three-year training to develop their skills, character, and clarity in both personal and professional life.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Maitreyee Dutta, assistant professor in the Department of English, who mentored the session.

Over 100 students and 15 faculty members attended the event, along with more than 50 NCC cadets.

Special invitee Lieutenant Jalin Prakash Chetia, ANO NCC ADP College, and NCC officials GCI Gandikota Sirisha, Subedar Major Kejang Tsering, Havaldar Suresh Rambah, Havaldar Amrit Thapa, and NK Binod Ranabhat were also present, a release said.
