This was said by the deputy commissioner of Cachar Keerthi Jalli during her site inspection on Tuesday along with the officials of the concerned department.

Sharing her views, DC Keerthi Jalli stated that this new RCC bridge over river Barak is constructed under SOPTG for the year 2018-19. During her site visit on Tuesday, DC Jalli urged those who have still not vacated the acquired land to do so within April 24 so that the approach work can be started simultaneously for early completion of the bridge. Cachar DC said, “The public are supposed to vacate the land by now. They are just lingering on. However, this will be soon done and there is nothing to worry about. There was actually no issue related to encroachment. We had alignment issues with the district judiciary, which too was solved by the positive intervention of Guwahati High Court.”

“From the cost estimate which we made for the work, we have also made some savings with which we will try to repair the nearby roads. There is actually no financial issue connected with this project. Work is being done quite well. Infact, there was no over short of the estimate and we are hopeful to see the bridge completed very soon,” added the deputy commissioner.
