DIPHU, Oct 23: District commissioner Nirola Phangchopi distributed cheques to new entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan (CMAAA) during a cheque distribution programme held in the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, Diphu, on Tuesday.
Additional director of the District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC), Karbi Anglong, Melina Terangpi, and other officials were also present at the event.
The cheques were distributed to 38 new entrepreneurs who were unable to attend the state-level cheque distribution programme held on September 30 at Khanapara, Guwahati. In Karbi Anglong district, a total of 606 entrepreneurs under the CMAAA scheme have received cheques, each amounting to Rs 75,000.
The CMAAA scheme, initiated by the Assam government, is designed to empower unemployed youth by providing financial assistance, fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem, and creating employment opportunities in both rural and urban areas. The scheme also aligns with the government’s focus on strengthening the rural economy.
Eligibility criteria include permanent residency in Assam, age between 28-40 for the general category, and 28-43 for SC/ST/OBC categories, along with a registered bank account and no outstanding loans.
The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and helping youth achieve self-reliance.
