DIPHU, April 6: The new committee of Greater Diphu Bazar Committee (GDBC) has been constituted after approval from the taxation department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for the financial year 2023-2024. Earlier the GDBC headed by president Pradeep Engleng was dissolved due to certain reasons by the taxation department.
Addressing a press conference at the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) here on Thursday, the new GDBC president, Bidyasing Tisso said, “After dissolving the earlier GDBC the chief executive member, KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang has approved the new GDBC. The new GDBC is headed by me as president, including other office bearers.”
Tisso said the newly constituted GDBC will work for the good of the Diphu market. The GDBC will try to do away with unauthorised collection (donation) by various organisations and individuals which is harassing the business community.
Tisso particularly said that the GDBC will stop entry of fishes coming from neighbouring districts into Diphu market as it is allegedly Urea (a fertilizer used for growth of crops) fed fishes. Due to consumption of such Urea fed fishes is one of the reasons for having health issues by citizens of Diphu town and should stop entry of such Urea fed fishes, he said.
He sought the cooperation of the business community and general public of Diphu town for the betterment of Diphu market.
The new GDBC office bearers are Bidyasing Tisso as president, Sanjay Timung and Tinku Engti as vice presidents, Soronsing Rongpi as general secretary and Jiban Bey and Ajay Krams as assistant secretaries.
Sosil Rongpi has been appointed as finance secretary with Rajib Timung as assistant finance secretary, Prasant Tisso as office secretary, Reshop Kathar as assistant office secretary, Joel Terqang as publicity secretary and Sondon Terang as assistant publicity secretary along with six executive members.
