MORIGAON, June 12: A new 25-member district committee of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Morigaon, was formally constituted on Thursday during the organisation’s annual general meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall.
The meeting was held in a solemn atmosphere under the presidentship of Debashis Sarma, President of IRCS Morigaon and also the Deputy Commissioner of the district.
The meeting was attended by Deba Prasad Sarma, General Secretary of IRCS Assam, and Laba Sarma, State Coordinator of IRCS.
During the proceedings, Paramananda Goswami, the General Secretary of the outgoing committee, presented a detailed report on the expenditures of the past three years.
In his address, President Debashis Sarma spoke at length about the objectives and responsibilities of the IRCS. He urged all members to remain prepared to serve the public during emergencies such as floods and other natural calamities.
The new committee elected Dr Puniram Patar as Chairman of IRCS Morigaon.
Paramananda Goswami was unanimously appointed as the Honorary Secretary. Other key office bearers elected include Atul Sarma as Vice Chairman, Jugal Kishor Choudhary as Organising Secretary, Anjan Sarma as Joint Secretary, and Kamal Chandra Deka as Treasurer.
The formation of the new committee is aimed at strengthening and expediting the organisational activities of the IRCS in the district.
