NF Railway Focuses On Upgrading Tracks For Safe Operations Of Trains

GUWAHATI, Sept 24: In a bid to enhance safety of railway track and provide a much more comfortable travel to rail passengers, Northeast Frontier Railway has undertaken several track renewal works during the month of August, 2022. The basic objective behind this rapid progress in track renewal activities is to further gear up the safety in train operations.

NF Railway has carried out several track maintenance works to enhance safety and increase speed of train running. 27.45 Km of plain tracks has been deep screened by cleaning impervious layer of dust, sand ashes etc from ballast during the month of August, 2022 making a cumulative progress of 86.53 Km from April to August this year. Through Sleeper Renewal of more than 21.72 TKM has been done during the month of August, 2022 making a cumulative progress of 48.20 TKM up to the month. Through Turnout Renewals of 49.75 equivalent sets have been done during the month of August, 2022 making a cumulative progress of 82.50 sets up to the month. 19 nos. of bridges have been rehabilitated during the month of August, 2022 making a cumulative progress of 80 nos. of bridges upto the month.

Moreover, 1799.41 kilometres of track have been tested by USFD (Ultra Sonic Flaw Detection) machine during the month of August, 2022 making a cumulative progress of 8982.94 kilometres up to the month. USFD technique is carried out to detect flaws like cracks and timely removal of defective rails for safety.

Railway tracks are replaced through track renewal works which is an ongoing process. The process of track renewal with the help of track machines saves time and good quality work can be achieved in the least possible time with minimal effect on normal train movement.
