GUWAHATI, Feb 10: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), conducted a comprehensive safety inspection of the 123 km Dangtal–New Cooch Behar section under Alipurduar Division on Tuesday, accompanied by senior officials from Headquarters and the Division.
The inspection included detailed assessments of track conditions, minor and major bridges, signalling and telecommunication systems, traction installations, level crossing gates, station infrastructure, curves, points, crossings and ongoing maintenance works. The GM also interacted with officials and frontline staff to review operational preparedness, safety awareness and essential safety equipment at stations and work sites.
Station inspections were conducted at Kokrajhar, Fakiragram, Alipurduar and New Cooch Behar. Developmental works under the Amrit Station initiative, focusing on passenger amenities, station modernisation and service quality, were reviewed. Newly developed facilities—including waiting rooms, health units, crew lobbies, running rooms, traction substations, bridges and gang tool cum rest rooms—were inaugurated and inspected.
A speed trial between Kamakhyaguri and New Cooch Behar assessed track and rolling stock performance, while a rear-window trailing inspection evaluated operational efficiency and track behaviour.
