GUWAHATI, July 16: General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, conducted an extensive inspection on July 15 across key railway stations and infrastructure sites in Rangiya Division, including Baihata, Changsari, Kendukona, Agthori, and Rangiya.
The visit was aimed at reviewing safety measures, signalling systems, and the progress of major development projects aligned with NFR’s strategic priorities.
According to an official statement, Shrivastava’s visit focused on operational safety, infrastructure modernisation, and staff welfare.

At Rangiya Railway Station, he closely reviewed the ongoing extension of the Rangiya Railway Hospital, which is being upgraded to enhance healthcare services for railway personnel and nearby residents.
He also inspected the expansion of the Divisional Training Centre (MDDTI), where improved training infrastructure is being developed for Signal and Telecommunication (S&T) staff.
The upgraded facility will include modern classrooms and workshops to support technical upskilling.
At Baihata, the General Manager reviewed the near-complete Gati-Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT), which is poised to boost freight handling capacity in the region.
The upcoming terminal will feature three dedicated goods lines, an electronic in-motion weighbridge, double goods platforms, high-mast lighting for round-the-clock operations, and a special ramp for automobile loading.
It is expected to handle over 25 freight rakes per month once operational.
The inspection also included ongoing station enhancement works and a review of nearby railway colonies.
Shrivastava emphasised the importance of staff housing and amenities in maintaining workforce morale and productivity, especially for frontline personnel.
The visit underscored NFR’s commitment to infrastructural growth, operational safety, and employee welfare across its divisions.
