NFR observes Police Commemoration Day at Maligaon

GUWAHATI, Oct 21: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) observed Police Commemoration Day 2025 with solemnity and reverence at the Reserve Line, Maligaon, on Tuesday.

The ceremony was held to honour and pay tribute to police personnel, including members of RPF and RPSF, who laid down their lives in the line of duty while safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.

Senior officers, RPF and RPSF personnel, along with staff from NFR Headquarters and the Greater Guwahati area, attended the event in ceremonial attire to offer heartfelt homage to the martyrs.

The Police Commemoration Day parade commenced at 07:20 hours, followed by the arrival of senior officers.

Paramshiv, Principal Chief Security Commissioner (PCSC) of NFR, was present on the occasion and received the General Salute.

The names of the martyrs were read out by the PCSC/NFR, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony to honour their supreme sacrifice.

The band played the “Slow March” as the PCSC laid the wreath at the memorial, and the parade observed a two-minute silence in memory of the departed personnel.

The solemn observance also included the playing of the Last Post, Shok Shastra, and the ceremonial unfurling of the RPF flag, which was lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect and later raised to full mast upon the completion of the silence.

Police Commemoration Day is observed annually on October 21 across the country to remember and honour the bravery, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice of police personnel who served the nation with courage and commitment.
