GUWAHATI, July 26: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), through its Medical Department, undertook a series of health and hygiene initiatives in July as part of its sustained efforts to safeguard the wellbeing of railway personnel and enforce food safety norms across its operational network.
According to an official statement issued by the NFR headquarters, health check-up camps were held over the past two weeks at various locations including the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Barrack, the office of the Principal Chief Security Commissioner/HQ, and the NFR Headquarters at Maligaon.
These camps were specifically aimed at improving health monitoring and ensuring preventive care for railway staff.
Altogether, 220 RPF personnel and around 200 other railway employees availed themselves of comprehensive medical examinations during these camps.
In another key initiative focused on food safety, a Food Safety Training and Certification (FOSTAC) program was organised at Dimapur Railway Station.
Conducted under the directives of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the programme was held in coordination with the Dimapur State Food Safety Authority.
It aimed at training food vendors, handlers, and food business operators working at the station on maintaining proper hygiene and complying with safety protocols as prescribed by the FSSAI.
The Northeast Frontier Railway, reaffirming its commitment to public health and regulatory compliance, stated that similar camps and training sessions will continue to be conducted in the future to uphold standards and promote safety within the railway environment.
