GUWAHATI, Jan 29: In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare delivery for railway employees and the general public, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken a series of proactive initiatives to upgrade medical infrastructure and promote preventive healthcare across its jurisdiction.
As part of these efforts, advanced medical equipment, including a steam sterilizer autoclave machine and a state-of-the-art Lasotronix Laser Diode System have been installed at the Central Hospital, Maligaon. These modern systems are expected to significantly enhance infection control measures, improve surgical precision and ensure safer, faster and more effective treatment, thereby elevating the overall standard of patient care.
Further strengthening hospital facilities, the newly renovated Male Surgical Ward at Central Hospital, Maligaon was inaugurated recently by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, NFR in the presence of senior railway officials. The upgraded ward features improved infrastructure and patient-centric amenities, ensuring greater comfort and enhanced quality of care for beneficiaries.
Reinforcing its focus on preventive healthcare and community wellbeing, NFR also organised 126 multipurpose health check-up camps across its divisions. These camps provided comprehensive medical consultations, health screenings and awareness programmes, benefiting railway employees, their families and local communities, while promoting early diagnosis and healthy lifestyles.
Adding to these achievements, the Alipurduar Division earned the prestigious distinction of receiving 10 ‘Eat Right’ Station and Campus Certificates from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). This recognition highlights the division’s strong commitment to food safety, hygiene and nutritional excellence at railway stations and campuses.
Collectively, these initiatives reflect Northeast Frontier Railway’s holistic and people-centric approach towards healthcare excellence, employee welfare and public service, reaffirming its commitment to safe, reliable and compassionate railway operations.
