GUWAHATI, Jan 20: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken a comprehensive upgradation of the Railway Higher Secondary School at Maligaon, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening educational institutions under its administrative care. As part of the upgradation, several infrastructure and academic facilities have been enhanced. These include the construction of two new classrooms, development of a new playground, renovation of the entry gate and prayer hall, upgraded toilet facilities, installation of granite on staircases, strengthening of the boundary wall, renovation of doors and windows and construction of a new corridor. The improvements are aimed at creating a safer, cleaner and more student-friendly learning environment.
Established in 1959, the Railway Higher Secondary School at Maligaon is one of the oldest educational institutions under Northeast Frontier Railway with a legacy spanning more than six decades. The school has played a significant role in imparting quality education to generations of students, particularly wards of railway employees and the surrounding local community, while consistently promoting academic excellence, discipline and holistic development.
The newly upgraded school was inaugurated on Tuesday, by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway in the presence of senior railway officers, school authorities, teachers and staff members. The initiative aims to preserve the institution’s rich legacy while aligning it with modern educational standards. The inauguration of the upgraded facilities marks a significant milestone in the long-standing journey of the Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon, integrating its historic heritage with modern infrastructure for the overall benefit of students.
