GUWAHATI, Feb 7: As part of the Government of India’s Digital India initiative, Northeast Frontier Railway is actively promoting cashless transactions. Indian Railways have made efforts to enhance digital transactions in line with the Government of India’s policy by implementing cashless counters at selected Passenger Reservation Systems with digital payment modes. With each passing day, cashless transactions are gaining popularity among passengers. In Northeast Frontier Railway, the amount transacted through cashless means has increased from Rs 1.8 lakhs (0.87% of total across-the-counter transactions) on January 30 to Rs 3.78 lakhs (2.67%) on February 3, indicating a steady improvement in facilitating payments through UPI and POS.
Passengers are being educated about cashless transactions at various reservation counters across NF Railway, and they are embracing the initiative taken by the Government of India by booking their tickets online. They express gratitude to the government for such initiatives aimed at the development of our country.
The contribution of cashless transactions from January 31 to February 2 at Passenger Reservation Systems located across NF Railway in five divisions at select railway stations is as follows: New Tinsukia – 53.01%, Dibrugarh Town – 15.74%, Guwahati – 73.05%, Kamakhya – 17.04%, Dimapur – 07.77%, Rangiya – 33.93%, New Bongaigaon – 05%, Alipurduar – 60.86%, New Coochbehar – 02.83%, Katihar – 18.41%, New Jalpaiguri – 06.49%.
