NTPC Bongaigaon marks 51st Raising Day

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 8: NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati celebrated its 51st Raising Day on Thursday, commemorating five decades of NTPC’s journey since its inception. The vibrant programme began with the hoisting of the NTPC flag by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and the release of NTPC-themed balloons to mark the milestone.

In his address, Maitra highlighted NTPC’s growth from its beginnings in Singrauli in 1975 to becoming India’s largest integrated power producer with a capacity exceeding 84 GW, including standalone and joint venture operations. He emphasised the 750 MW NTPC Bongaigaon station’s role in supplying round-the-clock power to the North Eastern region, maintaining a Declared Capacity (DC) of 98.61%, demonstrating operational excellence.

The event was attended by Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), LN Meitei, Commandant, CISF, Kasturi Maitra, president of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, senior officers, union representatives and members of welfare bodies.

As part of the celebrations, six employees received Power Excel Awards for their dedication and exemplary service, while four Master Trainers under the Rastriya KarmYogi Training Programme were felicitated for their contributions to professional development.

To mark 150 years of “Vande Mataram,” employees performed a collective rendition of the national song, fostering patriotism and unity. The day also featured a Walkathon within the township promoting fitness and community participation and a mass plantation drive by the Environment Monitoring Group (EMG), where over 2,000 saplings were planted, reaffirming NTPC’s commitment to sustainability and green initiatives.
