Obituary: Birendra Newar

Birendra Newar, a resident of Christian Basti, Balijuri in the northern part of Jamugurihat and a social worker breathed his last due to brief illness at his residence on Saturday morning. He was 68.

Newar had served Muradol Society as a member and later on as a president since 1992. He had also served the entire area as a secretary of Village Defence Party (VDP) for 24 years.

He was one of the founding members of Govinda Narayan Kirtan Sangha, a community organisation of the greater Balijuri area. He was also closely associated with many socio-cultural organisations of Balijuri area.

 

His untimely demise was widely mourned here. He leaves behind his four sons along with a host of relatives.
