Acting on credible intelligence regarding the illegal possession and peddling of narcotic substances, a team led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mankachar PS, Inspector Dipak Bargary, along with SI Puja Hazarika, SI Nayanjyoti Gogoi, and other police personnel, executed a search operation at the residence of Amirul Islam (55), son of Late Abdul Mozid, a resident of Village No. 2 Pubergaon (Shantipur) under Mankachar PS, South Salmara Mankachar district.

During the meticulously conducted search, the police recovered and seized a substantial amount of suspected YABA tablets, totaling 12,000 tablets (6 bundles × 10 packets each × 200 tablets per packet), weighing approximately 1311 grams. The seized tablets were orange in color. Authorities estimate the market value of the seized YABA tablets to be around Rs 60 Lakhs as per CID assessment, with an estimated street value near the international border of approximately Rs 2.4 Crores. In addition to the narcotics, the police also recovered Indian Currency amounting to Rs. 28,500/- and a Realme C-63 5G mobile handset.

Following the recovery, the seized tablets were subjected to an on-the-spot drug detection test, which yielded a positive result for methamphetamine. This will be officially documented in the First Information Report (FIR). The entire operation, including the seizure of items, was conducted under videography, and the e-Saksya app was utilized for comprehensive digital documentation.
The owner of the residence, Amirul Islam, was apprehended from the location during the operation. The Additional Superintendent of Police (Hq) was present to oversee the operation. Further investigation through preliminary interrogation of the apprehended accused, Amirul Islam, revealed his involvement in drug peddling activities for the past several years. He identified his source and backward linkage as Ashraf Ali (31), son of Abdul Wadut @ Nelu, a resident of Jhawdanga Part-II, under Mankachar PS.

Promptly acting on this crucial information, a separate police team led by SI Kumud Sarma launched a secondary operation. This swift action resulted in the successful apprehension of Ashraf Ali from the residence of his father-in-law at Kusnimara, also under Mankachar PS. Ashraf Ali has been brought to Mankachar PS for further legal proceedings.
