PAC inspects development projects across Baksa district

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 5: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly conducted an extensive spot study tour in Baksa district on Tuesday to assess the implementation and progress of government schemes and infrastructural projects for the financial years 2022–23, 2023–24 and 2024–25.

The inspection was held in the presence of District Commissioner Gautam Das, ADC Mustafa Salim Ahmed and heads of concerned departments. PAC Chairman Nurul Huda, along with members including MLAs Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Utpal Borah, Bhabendra Nath Bharali, Karim Uddin Borbhuiya, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, Abdur Rashid Mondal and Lawrence Islary, accompanied by Joint Secretary Deergha Baruah and Under Secretary Fakhar Uddin Chowdhury, led the tour.

The team began with a review of the ongoing construction of the Block Public Health Unit (BPHU) at Barama under the Health Department. They then inspected key initiatives under the Panchayat & Rural Development Department, including PMAY-G houses and MGNREGA-supported land-raising work at Badulipara LP School. Other inspections included the Barama–Nikashi Road (PWD Roads), a new embankment at Marapagaladia with NH-27 crossing (PWD IB, NIDA) and the Barkharua No 2 Model Anganwadi Centre near the Textile Park.

The Committee also reviewed the Integrated DC Office and the ongoing construction of the Baksa Auditorium under PWD Building.

A concluding review meeting at the District Commissioner’s office stressed timely completion of projects, strict quality control and effective utilisation of government resources. Detailed progress reports were sought from the respective departments. Officials from various line departments were present during the review.
