The unit named ‘Prakritik Paint Udyug’ to produce the paint named ‘Prakritik Paint’ a product developed by KVIC and is a product among ‘Khadi India’ brand items, was inaugurated by Padmashree Awardee nature conservationist Jadav Payeng on Saturday.
The paint is India’s first cow dung paint and one of its kind product developed by KVIC.

Bezbaruah said that the technology to manufacture the paint by scientifically treating cow dung,
developed by KVIC, is free from heavy metals, eco-friendly, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, non-toxic, natural thermo insulator and cost-effective.

He said that the product – distemper, primer and emulsion paint – is washable, waterproof, durable and dries quickly. Bezbaruah stated that the technology to develop the paint from cow dung under KVIC initiative has been inspired by the age-old practice of rubbing cow-dung on the walls and the floors of houses by residents and which also helped in keeping away pests and diseases.

Stating the paint is odourless and certified by Bureau of Indian Standards, Bezbaruah said that the unit has the capacity to produce 1000 litres a day and the product would be available in the local market.

It may be mentioned here that union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari, launched this KVIC initiative in January 202.
