GUWAHATI, Jan 25: “A person does not become inactive and sick when older or retired. If you increase your mental and physical ability, disease cannot work easily. Health is the supreme resource,” said Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, former Director of Dr B Barua Cancer Institute, during a free health check-up camp and awareness meeting for senior citizens, held to celebrate India’s 77th Republic Day.

The 15th camp of the Sunday OPD was organised for senior citizens on Sunday, allowing participants to interact and exchange views with Dr Kataki. The camp, hosted by Pathik Director Victor Rajkumar and assisted by Hareswar Talukdar, Monalisa Mahanta and Rajalaxmi Rajashree, provided free health checks including weight, RBS, pulse and routine blood tests.

Earlier Sunday OPD camps, conducted with Dr Ruby Katki (Dental Treatment), Dr Parashjyoti Bora (Diabetes), Dr Kamal Dev Goswami (General Medicine) and Dr Amal Chandra Kataki (Cancer and Gynaecology), served around 400 patients across 14 previous camps.
