The procession featured colourful displays highlighting the rich cultural traditions of various ethnic communities, with popular artistes including Rajesh Bhuyan, Debajit Majumdar and Yashaswi Bhuyan taking part.

Speaking on the occasion, Hazarika said the Bhogali Bihu celebrations at Nagaon Nehrubali have a distinct identity and play an important role in fostering unity and harmony among different sections of society.

Ranjit Kumar Tamuli Phukan, president of the Bihu Celebration Committee, noted that Nehrubali’s Bhogali Bihu is considered to be Assam’s first-stage Bihu.

The multi-day celebrations, which began earlier this week, feature a range of cultural programmes and competitions and are scheduled to conclude on the night of January 18.
