Pijush Hazarika Lays Base Of 4 Embankments In West Karbi Anglong

DONGKAMUKAM, March 3: Foundations for the construction of embankments at four places on the banks of Kopili River and its tributary Kolonga River were laid by the state minister Pijush Hajarika and the chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang.

The new embankments are to be from Bi-Inghoi to Chomkan on the left bank of Kolonga River, the protection of Kolonga erosion of from Kollonga River, (SOPD -FDR), the construction of embankment from Mugasong LP School via Bithung Rengthama village to near Kollongamukh Bridge, left bank of Kopili River and construction of embankment from Phangtengphrang to Japan Hanse village along the left bank of Kopili River.

The embankments will be constructed at a cost of Rs 36 crore under SOPD -ODS.

Hazarika while speaking on the occasion assured that the flood problem in Assam will be solved.

“The present government is trying to solve the problem of flood in Assam but it will take time, either 2 or 5 years,” he said.

CEM Tuliram Ronghang in his speech thanked the minister for sanctioning the fund for West Karbi Anglong.

He further informed in the meeting that the state government would approve funds to the tune of Rs 1000 crore for Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.

The programme was attended by MP, Horensing Bey; MLAs Rupsing Teron, Dhorsing Ronghang and Bidhyasing Engleng; executive members of KAAC; DC of West Karbi Anglong, Krishna Barua; SP, Indranil Barua and others.
