GUWAHATI, May 8: Guwahati Range under Kamrup East Division has started a plantation drive in the educational institutes of Guwahati under the Range Jurisdiction from Saturday by planting and distributing 50 nos of seedlings in Dispur Govt HS School under Hengrabari beat office. This has been carried out under the active leadership of DFO Kamrup East Division Rohini Ballav Saikia as per the direction of the Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma under the strict supervision of director general of Forest and special secretary to MOEF, Government of India, New Delhi under Twenty Point Programme for the Year 2022-23.

The species of plants include mostly medicinal and fruit bearing species such as Amlokhi, Arjun, Modhuriaam, Bokul, Ajar, Mohaneem, Ronga Chandan, etc.
During the upcoming monsoon season, the Range has targeted 3000 seedlings to be planted in various educational institutes of the city with an aim to generate mass awareness regarding medicinal and environmental importance of native plant species of Assam in students of various categories of school, college and institutions.
The event was inaugurated by the principal of Dispur Govt HS School Mridulla Dutta Gogoi in presence of Rohini Ballav Saikia, IFS, DFO, KED, Jnana Ranjan Das, ACF, Kamrup East Division.
