SIVASAGAR, April 6: One of the oldest primary schools in the district, 48 no Nangalamara Primary School in Bokota observed its 153rd anniversary with a two-day programme on April 2 and 3.

The programme began with flag hoisting by Ranjit Phukan, president, the celebration committee, Mandita Gogoi, headmistress, and three alumni Tilottama Baruah, Purnananda Gogoi, and Parama Gogoi.

Nonagenarian Nomal Gogoi did the tarpan. Dr Sashidhar Phukan, a former student and recipient of the Asom Saurov Award, 2022 inaugurated the stage. The committee felicitated the kins of the teachers who are no longer alive and they were Padeswar Pandit Phukan, Tepuram Phukan, Tepuram Sarma, Lakhi Konwar, Thalibor Gogoi, and Jiten Phukan.
