BISWANATH CHARIALI, Nov 11: Putul Gogoi, a temporary employee posted at the Sootea branch of State Bank of India for the past 16 years, received a transfer order from higher authorities on November 7. Due to the office holiday on November 8 and 9, the general public became aware of the transfer only on Monday.

Putul Gogoi, a local youth engaged by the bank since 2009, is closely associated with several socio-cultural organisations in the greater Sootea area. Customers frequently approached him for banking assistance, which he provided with dedication and care.

Following the news of his transfer, organisations including Sootea Nagarik Sabha, Sootea Press Club, the Sootea chapter of the Senior Citizens’ Forum and the Sootea branch of Assam Sahitya Sabha submitted a memorandum to the branch manager demanding the cancellation of the transfer order. The branch manager, however, stated that the order was issued in accordance with directives from higher authorities.
