Rabindra Jayanti celebrated at Ledo

MARGHERITA, May 9:
162nd Rabindra Jayanti was celebrated across the world on occasion of birthday anniversary of the world poet and country’s first nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore on Tuesday with great enthusiasm and gaiety at the premises of Purvanchal Durga Temple premises situated at Ledo. The program was organised under the initiative of a voluntary organisation called – ‘Dishari’.

The programme started with taking out a morning ferry which spread the message of Rabindra through music and recitation.

After that, Malavika Biswas, president of ‘Dishari’ garlanded the statue of Rabindranath Tagore and lit an earthen lamp.

On the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti, various students performed Rabindra Nritya and Sangeet while the other guests also covered a variety of speeches, chorus music and poetry, which led to the region buzzing in the name of Rabindra.

Sanjay Kumar, noted social worker of Margherita and Nang Sufati Pomung Mili, retired headmistress of Sankardev Higher Secondary School, Ledo were present as chief guests on the occasion.
