Rabindranath Tagore University condolences Dr Prem Sagar Prasad

HOJAI, Nov 17: Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai, held a condolence meeting on Monday in memory of Dr Prem Sagar Prasad, Head of the Department of Political Science, who passed away suddenly on Sunday following a stroke at around 1:00 AM. He was 59. His cremation took place later that morning at Shantivan, Hojai, a press release issued by Nazrul Islam Borbhuyan, Secretary of the Rabindranath Tagore University Teachers Association, stated.

The university community remembered Dr Prasad as a dedicated academician whose service to the institution—formerly Hojai College—was marked by sincerity, scholarship and unwavering commitment. He earned widespread respect as a teacher, colleague and mentor, leaving a significant impact on the Department of Political Science and the larger academic fraternity. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

The condolence programme began with the lighting of a lamp and the offering of floral tributes, attended by faculty members, non-teaching staff, students and former teachers from the Departments of History and Bengali. Professor Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, along with the Academic Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments and other dignitaries, delivered moving speeches reflecting the profound loss felt by the university community.

Rabindranath Tagore University conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, praying for strength and solace during this difficult time. The institution expressed hope that the noble soul of Dr Prem Sagar Prasad may rest in eternal peace.
